As we approach the return of the Master, we are to anticipate a rise in the proliferation of false teachings and teachers (Cf. 1 Timothy 4:1; 2 Timothy 3:1-8). The beliefs these religious charlatans propagate bring about eternal destruction. Peter in his second letter warns, “But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves” (2 Peter 2:1). In view of this, Christians are instructed to be more and more discerning of false teachers.

Over the past few years, a number of Baptist associations in the Philippines and abroad have ordained their pastors to bishops citing their extensive and influential leadership. In recent months, a few prominent local Conservative Baptist pastors have been encouraged by their colleagues to follow suit.
